My upcoming novella, Dead Dwight: a dark comedy, takes place in North Carolina’s rural Appalachia, an area near and dear to my heart, in the fictional town of Coalhaven. 

I grew up about 100 miles east of Hendersonville NC, and was introduced to the area by a gentleman my husband met while serving in the army. I immediately fell in love with the area and its people and we always drive up when I go back home for a visit. The people have a unique way of speaking and looking at life that can’t be found anywhere outside the region.
